Surfing the web recently we  found this original and simple home remedy against mosquitoes, that appears to originate from Taiwan.

Very simply it's a mixture of water with sugar and yeast, which issues CO2, the substance that attracts these tiny and  annoying bugs. However, it's completely harmless to human beings and pets.

 

UTENSILS

a two-litre recycled plastic bottle, without the cap

a piece of black paper or cloth

a container for mixing

a thermometer

sealing tape

INGREDIENTS

tap water (200ml)

unrefined brown sugar (50g)

fresh yeast (1 g)

 

THE PROCESS

Cut the bottle into two parts, just where it stars to narrow

Heat water and dissolve the sugar
. Allow to cool to about 40 º C

Add yeast (it is not necessary to mix)

Pour into the bottom part of the bottle
 and insert the top part of the bottle inside, inverted as a funnel.

Seal the edge with tape
 and cover with the black cloth, allowing free entry on top

Locate the "trap" in a corner of the room, And this is the result!
